This technique can be extremely helpful in designing solutions to multivariable control problems. It recommends the best "pairing" of controlled variables with manipulated variables and will highlight any problems of interaction. While multivariable control packages no longer strictly require such analysis, RGA may still be useful in determining the need for such packages or if such packages cannot readily be installed.
